Reisetomate Tomato

This unique and delicious tomato grows in distinct sections that can be pulled apart piece-by-piece without spilling juice. Reisetomate roughly translates to "traveller's tomato" in German, because one could eat a segment and then put it back in their bag for later. Delight in their oddity and enjoy their tangy, gentle flavour. A great addition to a child-friendly garden. Regular pruning will lead to a much larger harvest. Indeterminate and open pollinated.

This tomato holds a special place in my heart as it was the first heirloom tomato I ever grew. Its peculiar traits and history inspired my passion for preserving rare vegetables. The Reisetomate is a perfect example of a variety that is so irregular and unusual that there are few people willing to make a place for it in their garden, and it is therefore at risk of being lost. You can be a part of history by growing this fantastical variety!

Grown organically with love and tenderness in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 2022. Germination tested December 2023. Minimum 30 seeds.
